My Hufschmid 8 string tele is simply the best guitar I've ever played. Period. It ranges from ultra-smooth jazz tones right though to the most devastating Metal tones. The sustain, clarity and response are out of this world. And from the first moment on, holding it in my hands, it just felt right - this is the guitar I was always meant to play. The flat fretboard and the way Patrick sets up the action make it the most playable guitar I know.
But its not only the instruments which make Hufschmid so unique and special. Its Patrick himself, also. He's simply the nicest bloke you could hope to meet, and he'll bend over backwards to ensure that the instrument is exactly what you want and exactly what you need. His knowledge of guitars seems endless, and he'll always be able to advise you on any aspect of your instrument.
Also, he built my guitar in an incredibly short time, and kept me up-to-date about the build progress at every step - providing pictures, descriptions and even audio/video content. Simply the best guitar buying experience I've ever had.
Thank you Patrick, for being you and for creating such an über-awesome instrument for me! \m/ \m/

Mitch (Zekyel Band)

"In just one month, I watched a slab of beautiful sipo mahogany, transform into my ultimate guitar. It is without a doubt the best guitar I've ever played. It can handle the most chaotic metal tones with ease, and it can clean up to do some amazing jazz tones. The playability of my Hufschmid, is simply amazing. The neck was carved to achieve ultimate comfort for my left hand, and with the flat fretboard that features bloodwood, makes playing anything seem so effortless. I absolutely adore this guitar, and I owe all my thanks to Patrick Hufschmid. Working with Patrick was an amazing experience. He treated me as if we had been friends for many years. The amount of knowledge he possesses of guitars is outstanding. He kept daily contact with me and supplied me with pictures of the build process and even a couple of videos. This is my greatest buying experience in my life, no question about. Can't thank you enough Patrick "

I came across Patrick's work when I was reading a review on one of his guitars. I became curious about his work and filled in his request form on his homepage asking a couple of questions. He almost answered immediately and after some back and forth mailing I gave him a call and we talked on the phone for quite some time. He is a very communicative guy and definately knows what he's doing. Having him create a guitar for me was an amazing experience and quite entertaining. He constantly kept me updated about the building process so I could put a nice guitar creation photo story together. I love the natural wood designs that he's working with. The guitar is easily one of the best looking guitars I have seen. Patrick listens carefully to your requests and makes sure the guitar suits your needs but he also suggests certain features. The building process was really fast. From ordering the guitar to receiving it it was just about 4-5 weeks.
For me it was important to have a 7-string guitar that is really light and grants great access to the higher frets, and that's exactly what I received.
I can only confirm what was said before. This was an awesome buying experience and I am perfectly happy with the result. The guitar plays so smooth and the setup was perfect. The pickups I was asking for sound mean and can handle everything from clean sounds to standard rock but also some brutal death metal sounds.

I came across Patrick's work on a messageboard collecting informations about luthiers who build seven string guitars. I got curious, contacted him and he answered within 5 minutes. After some mail exchange he phoned me and we talked about the specs for my ideal guitar. Some day later I met Patrick in his workshop. He really cares for what you say and give you many experienced input. He is also very affable and treat you like his friend, also after your order has been done. I got updates for every step to the finished guitar with loads of pics and videos. 5-6 weeks later I recieved my custom T7. The neck feels extremly good, I`ve never seen such a low action without getting buzz from the frets. The craftmanship and finish are very unique. The sounds this guitar can produce absolutely score! Everything is possible, from bell clear clean sounds to fat, cutting metal distortion. The guitar stays articulate and clear no matter what you are dooing with it. Overall, I got exactly the guitar I wished to have, there is no compromise here! Best guitar I own so far.

Patrik Blenk (Germany)
My Hufschmid is the best guitar I ever had! It has the lowest action one could possibly think about, without having any fret buzz. Patrick's craftsmanship is impressive. The neck shape is perfect – not to flat & not to round – and the neck also feels very good. This is due to Patrick's homemade oil finish – it's really smooth. Overall the playability is nothing short but superb. Moreover the custom Hufschmid pickups, which are built by Kent Armstrong, blew me away! They are staying clear & articulate and the definition is insane – no matter what you do. You can easily switch from sweet jazz tones to sick metal tones by simply using the volume poti & pickup selector. I also have a set of BKP's but they don't compare at all – it's a huge difference. Finally I can only confirm what was said before. The buying experience was awesome – I always felt like talking to a good friend. Patrick kept me informed about the process and responded really quickly whenever I had any questions. He definitely knows how to treat a customer. Thank you very much for providing me with such an awesome instrument. You are truly an artisan!

One day in a guitar shop I played a lot of very expensive and exclusive guitars, and suddenly put my hands on an Hufschmid. It really intrigued me how this guitar could allow me to play much faster and effortlessly, so I then contacted Patrick and we met in swiss shop. At that time I had the 2002 ESP replica from Kirk Hammett which was a great instrument but after 5 minutes on Patrick's guitar my jaws literally fell off. The ESP couldn't stand the comparison, so I decided to make Patrick build me a guitar. I remember coming to the first rehearsal with this guitar and my bandmates would say "fuck you're going too fast we can't play this riff" and "please turn down the volume it's fucking heavy". Today I am the proud owner of 2 Hufschmids and being lucky to live in Switzerland I could on the second one, visit Patrick as he was shaping the neck to give it the exact shape my hand needed. No need to say this guitar is absolutely amazing, the colour, playability and sound we're exactly what I dreamed and Patrick just by listening to what I wanted did more than I ever expected, even knowing with the first guitar that he was a fantastic craftsman he delivers more and more each time. He even asked Kent Armstrong to do the pickup only for me, this guitar never hurts your arms or back your finger float effortlessly on the fretboard, the action let's you play like your idols or even better. When I plugged it on my amp I realized the pickups sounded precisely how I wanted without adjusting the amp which was the first time ever and my friends while being amazed at the looks of the instrument then screamed "OMG it's even louder and sharper sounding then the first one" !!! From the first guitar until today Patrick has remained a great friend he's one of those persons that treats you as an amazing friend if you are treating him as so. I know though he had issues with reknowned guitarists because of the money given to them to play this or that brand which he can't do and these people didn't give him enough credit. Patrick makes instruments for guitarists like you and me, listens to your needs and brings them to life, believe me if you buy a hufschmid you'll never want anything else, Patrick will be a faithfull friend, and the greatest and funniest after-sales guy in the world !
Jake Tandy (England)
My Hufschmid is a one of a kind. The action is fantastic and the ebony fretboard feels so swift. The neck is fat enough that it feels sturdy but doesn't strain your hand whilst playing. The body wood is Sapeli Mahogany, giving it rich tones. The top is Swiss Flamed Maple with an oil stained finish giving it a greyer appearance. It has a great weight to it and is nice and balanced so doesnt drop when I'm playing. The Pick-ups are the main deal. Built by Kent Armstrong to Patrick's design, they give out some beef deep low ends and can deliver some brutal power through distortion. High ends are great too, and very responsive. It is a very versatile guitar, excellent for blues and rock, but it's calling is really metal with it's immense power. I couldn't ask for a better guitar. You also couldn't ask for a better luthier. Patrick is great. He will do what he can to make sure you are satisfied with your guitar. Excellent customer service, an awesome friend and a top bloke.

Since i was i kid i was dreaming of my custom made guitar. so later when i was playing in bands there was this one time where we played a show together with another band and their guitarists had these customs made by our luthier patrick. so i got to play a hand built for the first time at the soundcheck of that show. i am a fan of simple guitars and what had impressed me most of my friends guitar was exactly that. one pickup, one knob, natural finish. simple but beautiful. i contacted patrick and told him my vision of the guitar and he was into it as much as i was, what would motivate me even more to take the decision. we were talking about a no frills guitar equipped with simply what i need. not more not less. one pickup, one knob, natural finish, no inlays, lumicent side dots and a reverse headstock. patrick really puts blood, sweat and tears into his thing. he would also keep me updated about every single building process, sending me pictures and messages. it was fascinating to watch patrick put together my new baby piece by piece and it was cool meeting him the day when i picked up my guitar. what i can say about my guitar is i never felt so shure and acurate on any of my guitars before. i love the way it sounds and i love the way it looks. so far i played it in the rehearsal over a halfstack, at the recording sessions and at home of course. i always got the tone i was looking for. there's a wide spectrum from sweet, warm, smooth, clean tones to very sharp high gain or chunking low end jams. im having fun playing it and im happy we builded it. with that said i can only recommend it and express my thanks for everything patrick has done. (as displayed on Jeff's guitar page on his website) A Rare Beauty. A great and genius guitar builder named Patrick Hufschmid runs Hufschmid Guitars and showed up at one of our shows in Switzerland to give me this. Many, types of wood used in making this unique beauty. A LOT of time and effort went into this one, more than any I own. I can imagine that it would be extremely expensive to buy, at least the model I was given. The pickup was hand wound by a friend of his and it is easily the hottest pickups I have ever heard. Good for newer sounding over-driven guitar tones. Too dirty for Annihilator's cd's but I can think of 10 bands right now that would kill for one of these!

Having played and owned many production guitars over the years, I decided to fulfil a long time dream and have my own guitar made. Like many other guitar players, I had developed an idea of exactly what I wanted and had seen many impressive looking custom built guitars on forums and websites. Initially enthusiastic about the prospect of having my ideal guitar built, I contacted a few guitar makers expecting to talk about making an order, but was disappointed by vague responses and many unanswered emails. A studio engineer friend had heard a recommendation for Hufschmid, so I looked at Patrick’s website and immediately knew I had found the right guy. The style and ethic of Patrick’s design were exactly what I had been looking for, and the choice of custom Kent Armstrong pickups was absolutely outstanding. After exchanging a few emails, Patrick called to discuss my order and answer all the questions I had, as well as giving all the advice I needed on design ideas and technical issues. A few weeks later he sent me a picture of two very promising slabs of sipo mahogany, and for the next three weeks (including Christmas and New Year) I was greeted with pictures of every stage of my guitar being made. Patrick took hundreds of pictures and shared every detail of the build, and really understands how important and special the guitar is for you. Delivery took less than six weeks after making the order, and the guitar was even better than I had hoped for. Every feature is spot on; the neck and body are dense and resonant without being overly heavy – even on a long scale seven string. The bloodwood fretboard is totally flat zero radius, with extremely low and level action, which is emphasised by the tighter string feel over the longer scale (27.5”). The playability and feel are better than any guitar I’ve played before, and the pickups are absolutely colossal, delivering massive saturated tone and tight bass response but with amazing clarity and crunch, perfect for lower tunings and the heaviest modern sounds. Overall I couldn’t recommend Patrick enough, my experience exceeded expectations from start to finish and the guitar was exactly what I wanted. He really does work on one guitar at a time and will dedicate himself to making you the perfect guitar. You can’t ask for more than that.

Patrick Hufschmid has so much wood shaping talent that he is clearly a descendent of Pirate Ninja Jesus. His near mythical luthier skills render bits of tree into serious "Djent" machines or super sonic shred sticks, all within a humanly reasonable time and for a fair price. He posesses the patience of the holy manitee mother and bestows carved creamy goodness upon those who understand that wood has a soul and if you have a soul you will love Hufschmid guitars. All joking aside, the ancinet simian behemoth bestows his blessing upon all those who look favourably at this mortal. If it wasn't for people like Patrick Hufschmid, the ten legged fly serpent would have no where to lay her spawn while her life gently eb's away in mind numbing agony... again. He takes a bit of tree, and using only his hands, nails and teeth turns it into a guitar... all hail Patrick Hufschmid who stands shoulder to shoulder with the top 8 luthiers of out planet \m/Rob Chappers - The Monkey lord

After two years of research and consideration, I chose Patrick to create my first 8-string guitar. I wanted a luthier who would be willing to discuss at length the pros and cons of different specs, with the knowledge and experience to give me opinions I could trust. I also needed someone with a history of making ridiculously beautiful guitars. Patrick was this man. There are so many people offering their opinions on the internet regarding guitar specs that its hard to sift through the hundreds of morons who dont have any hands-on experience of instruments but have read a lot of catalogues and think they know everything, to find someone who not only really knows everything through years of experience, but is also gracious enough to share his knowledge. Another thing worth mentioning is the frankly ridiculous customer service Patrick offers. He emailed me 8 times within 24 hours after I sent my initial enquiry. He then proceded to email me every day with updates, including numerous high-quality photos of the build in progress, and phoned me at home several times to discuss the build further. Although Patrick is not a custom shop, he was happy to incorporate my suggestions and help me to make sure I got the perfect guitar, exactly as I wanted it. My guitar was finished within a month of me ordering it, which is unheard of. I couldn't believe it! He also sent me the guitar using 24 hour shipping to make sure I had it as soon as possible - it arrived fantastically well packed and less than a day after I'd sent him final payment. This guitar is the ultimate 8-string. I love everything about it, it's 100% better than I thought possible. Patrick Hufschmid is God."

I was following Patrick’s work for about two years, I could only dream about ever thinking of maybe possibly owning one of his guitars. After a year or two , I realised that having 10 cheap metal guitars like I had was stupid and totally useless so I decided to get 1 real metal machine! I spent a couple months sending quotes to see how much I would have to save for a guitar and always realised that the guitars I was getting quotes for always were deeply inspired by Blackdroid’s so when I got a decent job recently, it was a no-brainer, I just had to finally order my own freakin Hufschmid. From the day that I wrote to Patrick, I received the guitar in less than a month and this is even after waiting a full week for tuners that took a trip to Africa just to make me a little more crazy so Pat is seriously hard at work. I’ve received and sent about 400 emails with Pat and still am after receiving the guitar cause he seriously is a cool and interesting dude to talk to. The guitar!! Ohhh my lord… it took some adaptation and a string change cause I’m one picky motherfucker but now I would make love with the thing if it was possible but it’s a chick magnet anyways so...its all good. The tone from that thing will make you want to burn your emg’s and leave your Seymour Duncan’s as magnets on your fridge, the Kent Armstrong pickups give me the best high gain and clean tones I’ve ever had and for frickin once , the middle position is more than usable. The built is nothing less than remarkable and every detail was taken care of like if his life was depending on it, I mean…you should see how the guitar was shielded and how taped and packed this thing was for shipping. I seriously couldn’t recommend Patrick’s work more, he is my favourite luthier for two reasons, first, he made the best guitar I’ve ever played, second, I seriously think he is a super cool dude to talk to and is not 20000% about business like all the others, you can see the passion and dedication in his work and he’s having a lot of fun spamming the crap out of your mailbox with process pics and ideas. Get one and have fun..or don’t and miss out on owning a seriously awesome piece of art. Vincent Harnois Karkaos

First of all i dont want to repeat what all these guys said before me so i'll get through it quickly. Patrick offers the best Customer Service i've ever came accross - period. Two years ago i stumbled over Patrick's art because of the picture that Jeff Waters had on his website. I was really impressed of the looks of course because its the first thing you see... I kept informing myself about him and his guitars and i got to know about his concept. I also felt very connected to the way he wrote stuff and presented his concepts so i knew that i would someday have one of his guitars. I finally ordered a 6 string after email exchanges and I decided to take the 7string which he was currently building as a side project. Well the Guitar... There is not much to say about it than "Superb". When i opened up the package i tuned it up and it felt very natural to me. I was really impressed cause this feeling never happened to me before... Long story short: If you dig Patrick's concept in terms of material and finishing there is no better guitar for you if not, your possibly not the right guy for a Hufschmid Guitar. I also ordered a 6 string, thank you and best wishes Michael "Amon" Hinz

My custom guitar experience through Patrick has been nothing but amazing. I had been salivating over his instruments for months after seeing his superstrat and telecaster monsters and my expectations were quite high. To be honest in my opinion his customer service from the beginning all the way till now (after the guitar has been in my hands) is peerless. I can't name another luthier I've come across that treats you so well and is so quick to inform and complete your order. You get treated more like a friend rather than some statistic on a corporate chart. (Would you ... pics and vids with your Hufschmid? Compliments on the house...) I've owned many custom shop/high end guitars and Patrick is right up there with some of the best. My Hufschmid H7 was my first axe from him, and it is a piece of art! Zebrawood, mahogany, ziricote, and a custom coffee bean oil finish he developed just ooze individuality. The guitar resonates as much as any of my 'holy grail' vintage instruments, and the Kent Armstrongs are the most clear and powerful pickups I have known. Big thick tone, but the tightest low end, all the way to the drop B string. The action is just insane, and it plays like a dream. The second is my H6 Infernodroid and it as of now is my favorite guitar of all time. Just everything about it just blows my mind. It all started with a simple idea and he created a guitar that literally I couldn't even imagine in my head. The Zambian teak, elm, and distressed mahogany married with the most insane quilt maple top I've ever seen makes me shake my head in disbelief everytime! So unique and cool. The flat radius on this just like the H7, fits me very well. Honestly this thing plays as well as it looks and I hope Patrick is extremely proud of his work. This is definetely the guitar I will show people whenever they're interested in a handmade guitar. Patrick has his own spectacular thing going on. He's not here to follow trends. He's not here to just churn out fancy wooden string things, slob it with plastic and give you the "guitar" years later. What he will do is he will work with you to make you happy as well as make sure that his guitars also mirror his philosophy. I wouldn't have it any other way. Preach on Patrick! You've convinced me not once! But twice! Thanks my Swiss Friend!

Patrick and I came to meet virtually on an internet forum. As we knew each other better so did my knowledge of his work and the relentless passion he puts on it, so it was quite natural that I became rather interested in owning at least one of these exquisitely crafted yet utilitarian looking machines for myself. The opportunity did present itself recently and my baby H7 hasn't really had any rest from the moment I got her, and I must say that, even trusting Patrick's work like I've always done, it did surprise me. Considering I own a good amount of rather high end guitars, it is no small feat for Patrick to build something that I can honestly say ranks right up there, and I believe it's the best sounding 7 string I own (considering I currently play only using 7-strings, it means a lot!) - stunning balance and definition, authoritative yet never overwhelming low end and a beautiful midrange "voice" make this much, much more than your typical metal-oriented guitar - I've recorded from blues to funk to rock to metal so I could put her through her paces, and she delivered in spades. In short, bravo Patrick!
